Policies

We have the following policies governing the stockroom - thanks for understanding the following limitations:

Who we can sell items to:

A current BYU ID card is required for all purchases. All sales are for BYU or personal use only. Any commercial or for-profit usage is a violation of both our tax code and the BYU Honor Code.

Cash Sales:

Even for those with valid BYU ID cards, there are limitations on what may be sold for cash. For example, the following may only be sold to those on research accounts in order to meet our tracking requirements:

• Chemicals (including liquid nitrogen and dry ice)
• Ground glassware
• Large glassware
• Needles
• Syringes
• Latex tubing

Items that can be purchased at other stores on campus should be purchased there, and we will refer you to those places if you need to buy the following types of items for cash (those on research accounts are exempt from this regulation):

• Computer disks
• Goggles
• Lab coats and notebooks
• labels
• Magnifiers (cheap style)
• Pens
• Safety glasses
• Tape
• Markers

Safety carrier policy:

Any chemical we might sell you that comes in a glass container (no matter how small) must leave our premises in a safety carrier, a well-packed box, or on a sturdy cart. If you don't have a safety carrier, we will rent one to you for a deposit of $35, which will be refunded to your account upon return of the carrier. Please return the carrier as soon as possible; we will assess a $5/week charge if you do not return the carrier within a week of renting it.
