Cumulative Exam Schedule
All graduate students in the Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry Area are required to take cumulative exams. All new students must begin with the October 2016 exam. The first three exams taken do not count against the 14 total unless passed. All cumulative exams are given on the first Friday afternoon of October, November, December, February, March, and April in Room C107 BNSN at 5:00 p.m. as shown in the schedule below. They are written for completion in 90 minutes.
You may be "absent" from two exams in a two-year period for any reason, but the third (and additional) "absent" in a two-year period is counted as a "fail" grade. You must pass a total of six exams to complete this requirement. For further information please see the Graduate Student Handbook.
The best way to study for your cumulative exams is to read as much as possible from the current literature* and review fundamentals of organic chemistry (Chem 552, 553, 555, and your prior organic courses).
