Dr. Douglas J. Henderson Awarded the Title “Doctor Honoris Causa” (Honored Doctor) of the Institute for Condensed Matter Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

Dr Douglas J Henderson has been awarded the title “Doctor honoris causa” (honored doctor) of the Institute for Condensed Matter Physics (ICMP) of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry held its annual awards banquet on April 8 in the garden court of the Wilkinson Student Center. Attendees included award recipients, 2010 graduates, and department faculty and staff.

Matthew T. Winterton, one of about 300 Goldwater Scholarship winners nationwide for 2010, is a junior BYU Biochemistry major from Alpharetta, Georgia. Based on his academic record, Matt received a National Institutes of Health biomedical research internship for Summer 2009 in Bethesda, Maryland, where he worked with Dr. Daniel Fowler studying the immunology of stem cell transplantation in cancer therapy.

Dr Reed M Izatt was selected as a recipient for the 2010 Special Recognition Award from the Brigham Young University Emeriti Alumni Association. The award was presented to him at an awards ceremony and luncheon Saturday March 6, 2010, by Stanley Peterson, President of the Association.

Dr. George M. Whitesides of Harvard University will present the Reed M. Izatt & James J. Christensen lectures on Tuesday, Nov. 3, and Wednesday, Nov. 4. The lecture on Tuesday will be held at 7 p.m. in B092 of the JFSB. Wednesday's lecture will take place at 4 p.m. in room W140 of the Benson Science Building.

The Chemistry and Biochemistry Department hosted its 2009 Awards banquet on April 8. The catered dinner included winners from the Spring Research Conference as well as undergraduate awards, undergraduate research awards, graduate student awards and graduate research fellowships.
