Our research is focused on the total synthesis of architecturally complex, biologically active natural products. We believe that the structures of such compounds can serve as inspiration for the invention of new organic reactions and processes. Thus, we carefully select our synthetic targets with the development of novel and useful chemistry as a main objective. We also engage in chemical biology studies to determine the pharmacophore and/or mode of action of the targets.  Some natural products of current or recent interest are shown below.
