Bringing in the Light of the Holidays
Dec. 15, 2025
As the semester comes to a close, we know that final exams, preparations for Winter break, and personal life challenges can make this time stressful. But, BYU’s 150 celebrations have helped remind us, Christ is the light of the world. We as students, staff, and professors alike have helped share the light of Christ through this season in many ways.
Students, staff, and professors were invited to carol hymns and Christmas songs together during class breaks. Their voices and light filled the halls with Christmas cheer.

Another tradition of the department is the Benson Christmas Tree Lighting. Each year, the department invites students, staff, and professors together to decorate the Benson family tree. Donated in 2018, the Benson tree has served as a reminder of the light of Christ each year since.

The plaque below the tree reads: “The Benson Heritage Christmas Tree, displayed in President and Sister Benson’s home during many of the years he served as president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1985-1994. A gift from the Benson family, 2018.”
We wish you a warm, joyful, and happy holiday season.
