Summer Internships for High School Students

We are offering paid internships for high school students that have completed their junior or senior years. The internships are for 20 hr/wk for 8-10 weeks at $8/hr ($1280-1600).

Students that receive an internship between their junior and senior years are eligible for a second internship after their senior year if they have accepted admission to BYU for the following fall semester. Interns must be able to provide their own transportation to BYU.

If interns are LDS they must receive an ecclesiastic endorsement from the Bishop of their Ward. If interns are not LDS, they must interview with the University Employment Offi ce. Once students are selected as interns, they will be expected to read descriptions of faculty research provided to undergraduate students and select three faculty members with whom they would like to conduct their internship.

Faculty mentors will be selected from these three based on commitment to the internship program, laboratory space, and time available for mentoring. Interns will be selected based on performance in science courses in high school and perceived interest in the internship program.

Applications will be accepted from April 1st to May 15th.

Decisions will be made by June 1st.
