ISMSC Conference Announced for May 2024

Feb. 7, 2024

The 18th annual International Symposium on Macrocyclic and Supramolecular Chemistry (ISMSC) will be held from May 6th-May 10th, 2024 in Hangzhou, China. Based in the Blossom Water Museum Hotel of Hangzhou, this five day event will host brilliant chemists from universities around the world as they gather to discuss macrocyclic and supramolecular developments in their respective laboratory research.

The ISMSC is the most prestigious conference of its field and is the merger product of two distinct conferences, the International Symposium on Macrocyclic Chemistry (ISMC) and the International Symposium on Supramolecular Chemistry (ISSC). The ISMC was originally founded by BYU’s own Dr. Reed M. Izatt and Dr. James J. Christensen, both of whom were active members of the organization until their respective deaths. The two conferences merged in 2006 to create the current ISMSC, which has only grown in traction and now involves hundreds of participants from around the globe.

Additionally, BYU’s very own Dr. Roger Harrison, full-time professor and research director of the BYU Harrison Lab, serves as the committee’s secretary.

In honor of BYU’s rich legacy and involvement with the ISMSC organization, BYU partners with IBC Advanced Technologies, Inc. to sponsor outstanding candidates to participate in and attend this symposium. More information about this award can be found here.
